PROCEDURE TO REQUEST FOR APPOINTMENT OF AN ARBITRATOR
EFFECTIVE 1ST JANUARY 2024
To request for the appointment of an Arbitrator, the requesting party should submit to the Ciarb Nigeria Branch Secretariat
- Two copies of the Request for the appointment of an Arbitrator. The request should be addressed to

- Two copies of the
- Contract/Agreement executed by both parties
- Notice of Arbitration/Dispute
- Evidence of payment of N50,000 (Fifty Thousand Naira) administrative fees.

- Where relevant, the Request should include explanations,
- and attach relevant documents, that evidence the Arbitration Agreement between the parties, such as an explanation of any amendments to the agreement pursuant to which claims are made, any novation or assignment agreements, and explanations and evidence of any change of party names.
- If the parties have agreed to nominate arbitrator candidates or to follow a certain procedure for the appointment of the Arbitral Tribunal then, subject to the requirements of arbitrator independence, impartiality and availability the CIarb Nigeria Branch will take into consideration such nominations or procedures.
An appointment will be made within seven working days of the receipt of the request for appointment.
